When it comes to music, I like a bit of everything.
My favorite bands are Duran Duran and Tenpole Tudor.
But, I do have a love for Swing and Blues.
Its not unknown for me to 'borrow' my mum's mp3 player just to listen to Michael Buble, until I put his music on my own.
Recently Michael Buble's Christmas album has been released, so I thought, "what a great album to do my first CD review for. PLUS it's nearly Christmas."
Although my mum loves Michael Buble and his music I had to force her to buy this album. Her favorite excuse is, "it's a christmas album, it'll only be played once a year." I agree with her, but I felt there had to be an exception.
Michael Buble has an extraordinary singing voice and is the light in the darkness in these days of manufactured bands and singers that come through because of shows like X Factor.
His Christmas album is a combination of songs from the likes of Bing Crosby all the way through to Mariah Carey.
The CD contains tracks such as It's beginning to look alot like Christmas, Santa Claus is coming to town, Silent Night, Blue Christmas, Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Santa Baby, Winter Wonderland and more.
All tracks have Buble's unique signature stamped on them.
Blue Christmas, originally a hit for Elvis Presley is a great example of one of the songs on the album that Buble has turned into his own. He has given the song the music very reminiscent of a New Orleans band (which can only make me think of The Bond film Live and Let Die).
His backing has great vocals and Michael Buble himself gives 'Ave Maria' a unique gentle sound.
Other singers such as the Puppini Sisters feature on the track Jingle Bells. Shania Twain joins Buble for another unique take on White Christmas.
Naturally 7 feature on the bonus track Silver Bells and a singer known as Thalia joins Buble for Mis Deseos/Feliz Navidad.
I mentioned Mariah Carey. All I want for Christmas features on this album too. It's beautifully slowed down to make it more romantic and heartfelt.
The DVD is "The Making of 'Christmas'. Its gives you the insight of what went into making the album, the thoroughness that Buble puts into his music, and how something isn't perfect until he says so.
It also shows Buble recording Jingle Bells with the Puppini Sisters.
Buble has a Bing Crosby-esque sound to his voice on some songs. His voice is definitely suited to this music.
VeeBee15's Score: 5/5
